Standing Junior Appointment for Jacqueline FordyceBack to News Listing
Axiom is pleased to announce that Jacqueline Fordyce has been appointed as standing junior counsel to the Advocate General for Scotland. The appointment is to the general panel of counsel, who may be instructed on behalf of any UK Government department or agency.
The Advocate General (The Rt Hon Lord Keen of Elie QC, who is currently a non-practising member of Axiom) is the principal legal adviser to the UK Government on matters of Scots law, and acts on behalf of the UK Government in the Scottish courts. The panel of standing juniors may be engaged in a variety of work, both advisory and litigation, including devolution challenges and legislative competence issues, judicial review of the actions of UK Government Ministers, criminal matters, and points of international or EU law.
During her appointment, Jacqueline may continue to accept instructions to act against the UK government as a generality, subject to any conflict that may arise in particular cases.
