Axiom is delighted to announce that 2 members of Axiom, Paul O’Brien and John MacGregor are amongst the ten new Queen’s Counsel appointed by Her Majesty the Queen on the recommendation of First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
Paul O’Brien called to the Bar in 2004 choosing to practice in commercial litigation, intellectual property and professional negligence. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbritrators. John MacGregor called to the bar in 2007 and joined Axiom at its fruition. He also specializes in commercial law and professional negligence; and also public law. Both have appeared in the Supreme court on a number of occasions and are highly ranked in Chambers UK.
The rank of Queen’s Counsel is generally reserved for those who have distinguished themselves in practice in the Supreme Courts. Advocates and Solicitors with Rights of Audience in the Supreme Courts are eligible to apply to the Lord Justice General, Scotland’s senior judge. Before making nominations to the First Minister, the Lord Justice General consults other judges, the Lord Advocate, the Dean of the Faculty of Advocates and the President of the Law Society of Scotland.
