Axiom welcomes Jacqueline Fordyce

03 June 2016

Axiom Advocates is delighted to welcome Jacqueline Fordyce to Axiom.

Jacqueline called to the Bar in 2016.  She is the Lord Reid Scholar 2015-16, and has gained distinct experience of commercial and public law practice during her devilling period.

Prior to calling to the Bar, from 2012 – 2015, Jacqueline worked as Law Clerk to the Lord Justice Clerk (Lord Carloway), gaining a unique and valuable insight into the workings of the senior judiciary.  She assisted Lord Carloway in the performance of his judicial functions, acquiring broad experience of the work of the Second Division of the Inner House of the Court of Session and the High Court of Justiciary Appeal Court.  During her tenure, she developed a particular understanding of effective appellate advocacy and strength in opinion writing.  She was primarily engaged in preparing appeals, noting proceedings in court, carrying out legal research and preparing draft judgments.  In addition, she was regularly engaged in speech writing duties, preparing keynote and other addresses on topical legal issues to be delivered at major conferences and events.

Jacqueline has a particular interest in public law, having recently spent time working as a part-time lecturer and module leader in constitutional and administrative law at Edinburgh Napier University.

Jacqueline previously qualified and practised for a number of years as a litigation solicitor in Edinburgh, exercising rights of audience in the sheriff courts and instructing counsel in the Court of Session.
