Axiom is delighted to congratulate Martin Richardson QC on his elevation to the bench.
Her Majesty the Queen, on the recommendation of the First Minister, has appointed 3 new judges, Shona Haldane QC, Martin Richardson QC and Craig Sandison QC as Senators of the College of Justice. All will take up their appointments on 1 March 2021.
Martin Richardson studied at Edinburgh University (LL.B) and Universiteit Leiden (LL.M). He practised as a solicitor from 2000 and, following a stage at the European Commission, became an advocate in 2003. During his career as an advocate, he specialised in commercial law and was standing junior to the Scottish Government and to the Office of the Advocate General. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2017. Between 2016 and 2018 he served as an advocate depute.
Kenny McBrearty QC, Director of Axiom stated “Martin is well known for his intellect, integrity, warmth and common sense meaning that he is perfectly suited to be a judge. On behalf of all of the members of Axiom, I wish him well for a long and successful career on the bench.”
