Beauly-Denny Powerline Inquiry
27 December 2007
The Public Inquiry into proposals to instal a 400kV overhead electricity transmission line between Beauly and Denny closed on 20 December 2007. Axiom's Ruth Crawford represented Highland Council, Perth and Kinross Council, Stirling Council and Cairngorms National Park Authority throughout the course of the Public Inquiry. Those parties had lodged objections to the proposals. The Public Inquiry is believed to have been one of the longest running Public Inquiries in Scotland, having commenced on 6 February 2007 and run over a period of 29 weeks at various locations in Scotland. Evidence was heard from just under 300 witnesses on a wide variety of topics. The Report with its recommendations is not anticipated until late 2008, and a decision will be made thereafter by the Scottish Ministers.
