17th January - Richard Keen QC delivers Axiom's first Third Thursday Lecture

21 December 2007

Axiom Advocates is introducing a lecture series to improve communications, share knowledge and enhance Continuing Professional Development (CPD) among solicitors and advocates.

The series, the Third Thursday Lectures, will launch on the 17th January 2008 with Richard Keen QC, one of the founding advocates of Axiom. Mr Keen's lecture will focus on legal solutions for the 21st Century.

Presenting the lecture series, David Johnston, Chairman of Axiom Advocates said:

"Eight months ago, Axiom Advocates launched, marking a radical change from the traditional Faculty of Advocates "stable" of advocates to a more commercial, service-orientated operation. It has been a busy period and we have been working hard to deliver our commitment to focus more on serving client needs aligned to the way the legal profession is developing as a whole.

"We now want to take that one stage further by creating a lecture series that will provide a topical insight into emerging legal practice, enabling us to share experience and knowledge with colleagues in the legal profession and those who engage advocates.

"Richard's presentation promises to be a lively and perceptive look at the legal profession of the future and the challenges it may face."

The Third Thursday Lecture series will be set up in such a way that it meets training criteria, offering guests the opportunity to build CPD accreditation.

Subsequent lectures include:

21st February 2008- Public Law Lecture: The Scotland Act Post Somerville, Dickson v HMA and Ruddy with Gerry Moynihan QC

20th March 2008 - Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Lectures: What Role for Mediation After the Civil Justice Review? with Alistair Clark QC and Recent Mediation Case Law: Issues arising with Sarah Wolffe
