Scottish Curling Skip Vindicated
7 July 2011
The former skip of the Scottish Women's Curling Team, Gail Munro, has succeeded in her defamation action against the former national coach, Derek Brown (Munro v Brown [2011] CSOH 117). Mr Brown had accused Ms Munro of refusing to play for her country. Following a proof, Lord Doherty has found that that accusation was untrue and defamatory of Ms Munro, who has been awarded £20,000 in damages.
Roddy Dunlop QC of Axiom Advocates represented Ms Munro at the proof.
