Axiom welcomes new member: Alasdair McKenzie

Axiom is pleased to welcome Alasdair McKenzie to Axiom, having called to the bar on Friday 5th June 2009.
Alasdair's background is mainly in contentious construction law including PFI/PPP. He has several years experience in construction industry disputes concerning typical issues such as entitlement to payment, extensions of time, liquidated damages, loss & expense and defects, as well as related areas such as insolvency and professional liability. He has acted for employers, contractors, subcontractors and professionals. Alasdair's experience includes disputes arising out of office developments, housing developments, road building, waste-water treatment schemes, process engineering plants, energy infrastructure projects and the London Underground PPP arrangements. He has been involved in cases in the Court of Session (Inner House and Outer House), the Technology and Construction Court (London), the Sheriff Court, at arbitration and adjudication. Alasdair dual qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales in 2005.
From 2006 to 2008 Alasdair worked in Azerbaijan as in-house lawyer for J. Ray McDermott, an American offshore construction and engineering contractor in the oil and gas sector. He was responsible for the company's legal affairs in Azerbaijan, Russia and Kazakhstan
In addition to his construction experience Alasdair has acted in general commercial contract disputes, in a significant judicial review case concerning public procurement and for the liquidator in complex insolvency proceedings.
