Four Axiom Members in First House of Lords Freedom of Information Appeal on 1st and 2nd April, 2008.
27 March 2008
The first case in the UK to go to the House of Lords under the Freedom of Information legislation is a Scottish appeal: The Common Services Agency v The Scottish Information Commissioner. The case involves questions as to the circumstances in which 'information' is 'held' by a public authority and whether medical statistics count as 'personal data' exempt from disclosure.
Axiom members Paul Cullen, QC and Morag Ross represent the Scottish Information Commissioner; Ruth Crawford appears for the Common Services Agency; and John MacGregor for the Secretary of State for Justice.
