Christopher Wilson worked as a policy adviser in the Confederation of British Industry's company and commercial law group, primarily seeking to influence developments in corporate governance and financial reporting.

He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2000 specialising in the non-life London insurance market. Subsequently, he worked for Lloyd's of London in risk management and thereafter in commercial litigation in Scotland.
