Before calling, Morag Ross worked as a solicitor. She has wide-ranging experience of public law matters and is regularly instructed in judicial review proceedings. She has good experience of judicial review in the human rights context. She has acted for petitioners and respondents and has a thorough understanding of the needs and expectations of public authorities as clients. She was appointed as a Standing Junior to the Scottish Government in 2008.
Morag is instructed mainly in the Court of Session, both in the Inner House and the Outer House. She has been instructed as junior counsel in the House of Lords. She also has experience of the Sheriff Court.
Morag has built up a practice in advising local authorities in relation to matters ranging from the procurement and competition law aspects of property development to financial support for asylum seekers. She has also acted for other public institutions, including the Scottish Information Commissioner.
In addition to her public law practice, Morag is frequently instructed in commercial matters and has recently acted in cases involving property and contractual disputes.
