J Gordon Reid graduated from Edinburgh University, became a solicitor in 1976, advocate in 1980 and QC in 1993. He is also a member of the English Bar. He has experience in many areas of civil and commercial litigation. His principal area of work relates to commercial property disputes including in particular building and engineering disputes, commercial transactions involving land and buildings, commercial and agricultural landlord and tenant disputes.

Gordon holds part time appointments as a Deputy Judge of the First-tier tribunal and a deputy Judge of the Upper Tribunal (Tax Chamber), Temporary Judge of the Court of Session and Arbitrator under the Motor
Insurers Bureau Scheme. His judicial work gives him an insight into how best to analyse and present complex factual and legal issues.
