Susan called to the Bar having practised for several years as a solicitor in Edinburgh, where she obtained significant experience in the field of commercial litigation.

Since calling to the Bar she has been instructed in relation to a wide variety of commercial disputes, with a particular focus on those involving insolvency, commercial contracts, interdict, property law and construction contracts.
 
In relation to insolvency matters, she has significant experience in acting on behalf of insolvency practitioners and company directors. She is presently acting on behalf of the Administrators of Heritable Bank Plc, on the instructions of Freshfields and Shepherd & Wedderburn. She is also acting on behalf of the Administrators of The Globespan Group Plc (and associated companies), on the instructions of Dundas & Wilson.

As a solicitor, she had experience in dealing with a wide variety of disputes, including in the commercial court of the Court of Session, mainly involving commercial contracts, insolvency, corporate, property litigation, oil and gas, construction and professional negligence.

Susan also has experience in alternative dispute resolution, having been involved in the successful resolution of major cases at mediation, including a shareholders' dispute and multi million pound claim against a firm of solicitors for professional negligence.
