Professional Experience
Since calling to the Bar, Alasdair has acted in a variety of cases including construction cases, professional liability, insolvency, intellectual property and insurance. He has appeared in the Court of Session (Inner House and Outer House), in appeals to the Sheriff Principal and in the Sheriff Courts. As a solicitor Alasdair was also involved in cases in the Technology and Construction Court (London) and in arbitrations and adjudications.
Alasdair's experience as a solicitor was mainly in contentious construction law including PFI/PPP disputes. His experience includes typical issues such as entitlement to payment, extensions of time, liquidated damages, loss & expense claims and defects claims, as well as related areas such as insolvency, professional liability and insurance. He has acted for employers, contractors, subcontractors and professionals.
From 2006 to 2008 Alasdair worked in Azerbaijan as in-house lawyer for J. Ray McDermott, an American offshore construction and engineering contractor in the oil and gas sector. He was responsible for the company's legal affairs in Azerbaijan, Russia and Kazakhstan.
